Courtney Lenz claims she was unfairly kept off the Ravens cheerleaders 32 person Super Bowl list. Well, cuts have to be made, and no one’s going to like them, so tough cookies, Courtney. But what is this about a 1.8 pound weight gain issue?
Baltimore Ravens cheerleader Courtney Lenz does have a fair beef. She was the only one with five years experience kept off the Super Bowl travel list.
However, the Ravens cheerleader spokesperson raises some good points in their own defense: Making the travel list was a reward for people who showed up for outside events, and since there are only 32 slots to fill from a roster of 60, cuts had to be made. There are 27 others who aren’t going.
I was almost on the Ravens side with this, until this little side story showed up: Courtney says the cheerleader higher ups benched her for two games for gaining 1.8 pounds. WTF?
You can get benched for gaining 1.8 pounds? What is this, the UFC? Are there weight classes in cheerleading that I don’t know about? Is 1.8 pounds going to be the breaking point of the guy who has to catch you? “I caught her, but I couldn’t hold on. It must have been the 1.8 pounds I couldn’t handle.”
Your spokesperson needs to clear the air quickly over the weight issue, because it really comes off as being dickish to me, and now I care about a situation I didn’t at first.
And why did the national media break this story over the local media? It seems to me, that’s a nice power play move there, Courtney, bravo!
I don’t see where that 1.8 pounds is a problem. Am I missing something?
