Yup, you heard me right. In the fire facial, the esthetician sets fire to a cloth on your face! It helps smooth out the wrinkles. I’ll bet it does.
In China, spas are offering the latest rage, the fire facial or Huo Liao. In the video below, you can see the spa person set fire to an alcohol soaked cloth on the face of the
victim spa patron. The procedure is quite popular with the upper class in China, the same ones who will be running our country soon because of our debt load.
According to the Digital Journal:
In the scary procedure that claims to stimulate cell regeneration, the therapist applies a towel soaked in alcohol and a special “elixir” to the skin and then sets fire to the area. The fire spreads and burns for a few seconds before the therapist extinguishes it.
The Huffington Post reports that therapists claim the treatment “stimulates the skin and addresses dullness, sagging and wrinkles.” Some therapists make expansive “cure-all” claims. The say the procedure also cures obesity, common colds and a number of other common but troublesome ailments.
I’m sure it does. You go first. I’ll be over here with the fire extinguisher.
And then there’s these other facial trends I find strange:
The Buccal Facial — A massage of your face from inside the mouth. Yes, inside the mouth. I’ll let you supply your own joke for that.
The Blood or “Vampire” Facial — This where your own blood is taken out, spun to remove the platelets, and then the platelets are injected into your face.
