At the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), the hot new exhibit is Academy Award winning actress Tilda Swinton sleeping in a box. It sounds like the beginning of a Stefon club review on SNL, but it’s not.
The exhibit will be in place for the next month, although the catch is you never know if she’ll be sleeping in the box that day or not. Apparently, she’s free to come in whenever she feels like it.
According to the Atlantic:
It’s all part of a performance art piece called “The Maybe” that she’s performed twice before. This is the first time Swinton has performed “The Maybe” in the U.S. She did it for the first time at the Serpentine Gallery in London in 1995, and again later at the Museo Barracco in Rome.
The title must come from the idea that “maybe she’ll be there, maybe she won’t”.
I’m not sure if she’s a restless sleeper or not, but I think watching her wake up to drink water may be the highlight of the piece.
