A radio host in Phoenix allows the crazy couple from “Kitchen Nightmares” to explain themselves. It nice to hear their story without Gordon Ramsey yelling at them, but it still doesn’t make much sense.
Earlier this month, I posted some videos from the FOX series “Kitchen Nightmares”, in which yelly-mcyellmeister Gordon Ramsey walks off the show because the owners are just too insane to deal with.
In a calmer environment, Amy and Samy are interviewed by My 103.9 host Monti Carlo (now THAT’S a radio name!), and they place the blame on their problems on wild internet crazies from Yelp! who have been hounding them for a while.
I can generate some sympathy on that front, as internet commenters often leave things like grace and rationality at home, but if you watched the episode, there are some things that cannot be shrugged off to hecklers that easily.
And they have apparently admitted that Gordon was right when he called their pizza raw, as now they consider that something to be included in warnings posted at the bistro.
They are also hiring, and they promise they won’t keep your tips any more.
So, here are the clips from their interview with My 103.9, which are nerve rackingly reset into three minute clips which retell the basic premise every time (good for radio, bad for internet). Monti never really challenges them, but that allows them to occasionally put their feet in their mouths. And Samy is muzzled, rarely participating in the discussion.
Covered in the interview:
— Yelp! haters have been dogging the restaurant for years, and they instigated the trouble that was shown on the show.
— They will let their employees keep their tips from here on out.
— They stick with the story that their facebook page was hacked, and all the awful things they said to their customers weren’t put up by them.
— She does bake her own desserts.
— Ramsey and the producers were not forthcoming as to how they were to be portrayed on the show.
— They have received death threats since the show aired.
