One of the best voices in blues music has been fallen silent. He epitomized the genre and brought the idea that Monday sucked into the popular vernacular with the classic “Stormy Monday”. R.I.P. Bobby “Blue” Bland.
Monday has been a sucky day since the idea that Sunday was a day of rest became apparent in the rise of Catholicism. But nobody made Monday feels as painful as Bobby “Blue ” Bland did. What a great blues classic. Bobby joined the great blues band in the sky yesterday at the age of 83. His voice, however, will be there every time someone does somebody wrong.
“There are a lot of great versions of this song, but this is THE classic version, if you ask me. Bobby Bland’s voice and Wayne Bennett’s guitar are so classic, so beautiful and expressive. Simply the best.” — YouTube comment from HowardIV
